The site has recently had a major refurbishment and changed it’s name back to the ' Anchor Hotel ' from Bar Vin.
Although the signage indicates the building is a hotel, traditionally it has been referred to as an inn. The inn was first recorded in 1611 and in 1723 the borough court was held there. From 1768 post chaises (carriages) and saddle horses were available for hire. Since 1748 and especially during the 19th century the inn was used as political offices during elections.
Now trading under the Taylor Walker brand of Punch, the hotel offers British food to accompany our drinks, where you can relax over classics such as hand battered cod, chips and mushy or garden peas, traditional British recipe bangers & mash or a roast of the day seven days a week. The pub food is freshly prepared and includes all your British favourites.
The new awnings supplied and installed by AEL have dramatic impact creating immediate awareness of the hotel whilst also promoting the brand and services available. The polished aluminium furniture underneath provides an additional seating area for customers.
