Eagle House School, Sandhurst
BEFORE, Eagle House's play area was rough. If it rained the children could not go out at breaks as they would tread mud through the school.
Following detailed discussions with Eagle House, our team transformed the site.
THE WORKS entailed a new gully drain being installed to prevent flooding. The storage shed was moved outside the play area. The old crazy paving was removed, the area for safety surfacing was levelled and a base laid. Dead trees and stumps, wasp nests and rubble were removed, and topsoil and turf laid for the quiet area. We made the wild area safe by removing holly, bramble and stinging nettle roots.
For safety surfacing, wet-pour was used around the play equipment and a grassy bank was protected by play matting, ensuring no more muddy boot-trails in the classroom.
First we installed two springers, a play tower, a tree seat and a log cluster.
The colourful safety fence we installed follows the contours of the site.Finally a sandpit, ship and play table were positioned on the wet-pour.
AFTER, Eagle House's play area is usable virtually year round, rain or shine, with an abundance of stimulating play and activity opportunities.
